Mid-April Goal Update + How My Weight Loss Is Going

At the beginning of the month, I wrote an article about my goals for the month of April. Since this is the middle of the month, I decided to update everyone on my goals and see if I’m on track.

Physical Goals Update

At the start of May I want to restart my Turbo Fire Schedule, which if you recall I did for two months in 2016. That schedule is brutal, with six workouts per week for twenty weeks. Yes,  you read that correctly. I’m using the month of April to get my body back to working out intensely again.

I broke down my steps per week, so let’s take a look at those and see what I did!

Week 1: Walk 3 Times, Yoga 2 Times

How did I do? I did all three walks and two yoga sessions. It did help that I was helping take care of a dog during this week.

Week 2: Walk 3 Times, Yoga 3 Times, Cardio 1 Time

How did I do? I went on five walks, only one yoga session, and three cardio sessions (one running, two biking). I know I need to get on my mat more, which I plan on doing this coming up week.


I’m proud of myself for doing as well as I have been doing. I was a little worried that I wouldn’t be able to do this, but my body knew what to do when I started moving it again.

One thing I did do that wasn’t planned was I started riding my bike again. In high school, I didn’t have a car so I rode my bike around town to get where I needed to go. Since then, however, I have had a car and haven’t been on a bike since. I purchased this bike about three years ago, but it’s mainly just sat in the garage waiting for me.

During Week 2, I took it out and ended up riding 2.3 miles! I was so proud of myself! My ass hurt for 2 days, but it was worth it. I’m so glad I got out on my bike again!

Mental Goals Update

This is where I’m falling a little short. I wanted to journal once a week, to help get my thoughts out on paper, but I didn’t do it for either week. The upside is that I started writing down three things I’m grateful for each day again. It’s been helpful for me to recognize the positive things going on in my life, so I’ll take it.


I know I need to journal again, but I took a small step in the right direction by restarting my grateful page in my bullet journal again.

Blog Goals Update

This is where I’m excelling just a little bit more than my mental goals. My goals for April for my blog are:

As of today, I’ve increased my followers on all four fronts by 42.4%, which I think is great for the first two weeks! I am currently at 59% of my goal, which puts me in line to meeting this goal by the end of the month!

Sadly, the other two goals aren’t going as great. While I haven’t had any new members for my Facebook group, I’m working on engaging the members I do have.

I learned that 3 posts per week is just too much for me right now, with as much back end and behind-the-scenes work the site requires right now. I posted once the first week, once the second week. My plan is to post twice a week for the rest of the month.

    First of all, I’m so proud of you for working towards real goals to improve your physical and mental health. You’re doing great!

    Secondly, I love that you’re making a point of writing down things that you’re grateful for every day. When things are really tough for me, I like to just find a quiet place to close my eyes and think on all of the things that I’m thankful for. It’s such a helpful tool.

    This month I’m trying to make healthier meals and manage my stress. Lord knows I have a lot of stress! I’m doing ok, but the hardest part is just rolling with the punches as they come.

    Keep it up, you have lots of fans at the sidelines cheering for you, and I love that you’re using this journey as an opportunity to help others get healthier too!

      The reason I like writing it down is because when I had a bad day, I can go back and see all of the things I’m grateful for. It really shows what’s going on in my life at that time.

      I’m glad that you’re doing okay. I found a quote I think you would get a kick out of- “This too shall pass. It might pass like a kidney stone, but it will pass.” It’s pretty true.

    Congrats on all your healthy wins! Journaling is amazing. Last year was rough for me and I fell off the fitness bandwagon, and I didn’t know how to get motivated again until I started journaling. Nothing too complicated, just writing down things I was grateful for every day like you’ve been doing. This completely changed my attitude and I jumped back into my health and fitness routine. Keep up the good work!
